just curious, i've had very little the past 4 days and fading fast...personally, i did just over 48 hours once in grad school, but i don't recommend it...there were times then i felt i could've slept for 3 days straight if given the chance

I once worked for 37.5 hours straight, then went to a huge party for Barbie's 30th birthday, had like 12 gin & tonics. Hooked up, then slept 4 hours, I was awake for about a total of about 48 hours, I guess. Then went back to work for 10 hours. I was pretty fried.

I stayed up all the night of October 31st, and then went to class. Then, afte 36 hours of being awake, tried to take a nap, and woke up to my girlfriend calling the campus EMT's because her ears were leaking brain fluids...not fun...

Haven't tried to break that record, but maybe sometime I will...

In college I had a friend who figured he didn't want to sleep 1/3 of his college experience away, so he'd just east NoDoze and Vivarin (sp?) all the time. Some days he literally looked like the walking dead. Eyes so sunken he looked like he was sporting two shiners, he was at every party he could find. He's eventually crash and sleep for an entire day or so and then start the cycle again. I think he claimed his record was 72 hours, but I had my own problems at the time, so my memory might be fuzzy.

Mike

EDIT: as a total derail, he once called me at midnight the week of finals to tell me he and his roommates were throwing a "milk party". When I finished studying, I drove over to find a house full of people celebrating the one year anniversary of the expiration date of a gallon of milk in his refrigerator. They threw a second party a year later for the same gallon. Dude was disgusting.

Ugh. NoDoze are terrible things. I drank energy drinks most of my (short) college career, and my liver has I think mostly recovered, but there was a time when the smell of a Monster or Red Bull would make me feel queasy. And I'm pretty sure I got caffeine poisoning the last 2 weeks of my freshman year...

I think the longest I've ever been awake without sleep was about 40 hours.

Without drugs: I've done about 40-hours a couple of times (you never really go to sleep at you're regular wake-up time)

With drugs: More than 5-days...kinda blurry, you know!

haha--reminds me of freshman year in the dorms, my roomate and i used an empty gallon wine bottle as a spitoon for copenhagen spit, then put the cap on when full and set it on a shelf...fast forward a few weeks and one night we awaken to a loud pop and something richocheting thru the room--fermented in the bottle, popped the screw on cap right off...was disgusting, so much so we decided to lob it out our 6th floor window, along with the 1/2 dozen other 40 oz. bottles full of the same concoction...we didn't think to have a party

About 40 hours here too on a few occasions when I pulled all-nighters in college.

Yeah. I took a nap, and then I woke up to the EMTs coming in the room. She'd had a cold for a few days...and she thought maybe she had a ear infection.

Turned out 2 inner ear, 1 outer ear infections. Her roommate rode to the hospital with her, because this nap was only like 30 minutes or something and I was in no state whatsoever to be dealing with this.

Thunderscreech needs to remember that cheap port makes his storytelling hard to follow and he should re-read everything he posts.

27 years ago, no drugs, about 46 hours. When my oldest son was born, we were awake all day and then my wife went into labor. She was having a 'natural' birth so long hours were not unusual but at the end there were complications. When I finally got to sleep, it wasn't very good or very long. I think it took me a couple of days to recover.

My longest without sleep is 48 hours. My buddies and I in college made each other a bet that none of us could stay awake for 2 whole days (there were large amounts of beer involved with said bet, both in the betting and in the reward). Little did they know I played WoW and drank espresso like water at the time, so it wasn't very hard. I looked like death at the end of it all though I'll tell you that much.

It doesn't really count, but my 9 month old is making sure we don't sleep more than 2 or 3 hours at a time...

I'm a very bad non-sleeper. I'd say I went for up to 25-26 hours a couple of times, but that's it.

Like so many others, back in college I.....

December 1983, woke up about 7am Friday, went to class. Drove 200 miles to a concert, Beck, Clapton, & Page. Left home about 2am to back to school because I had a class at 8am Saturday. Did class all day, and went to a class party afterwards. Got home about 11pm, pulled the blankets up to my head when my roommate started pounding on my door to go out for the night. He found a bit of Peruvian happy powder somewhere along the line. I went to bed about 4:30am Sunday.

So, about 45 hours with only Pepsi to keep me awake. But the concert was worth the pain.
