I'm not so sure I know myself anymore. I don't really have any drive to do anything these days... the only reason I still do anything is because it's too much effort not to.

I just know that someday soon the momentum will run out and I'll literally have nothing there anymore =\

my dad had a heart attack recently, and though he's survived thus for, it's getting to the point where years can be counted on one hand.

I know I should feel sad... I know I should be heartbroken. it's the worst news ever, that's MY DAD, who I love more than anything else in the world.

but the news has passed over me, like a cold wave in the sea. I just don't know what to say, do, think, I can't explain it. It's like I'm completely passive to everything, life is just happening around me. It started in about november and it's been getting worse and worse since.

sorry for the rant guys, but I didn't really know who else to come to.

People deal with grief in very different and sometimes odd ways. Don't beat yourself up about it. I have found that everything comes and goes in seasons, this season will pass, just hang in there.

Not much advice but it is true.........

What you're describing sounds like pretty classic symptoms of depression.
Find someone to talk to. It might be worth consulting a doctor. Depression can often be a physical condition, and is treatable.
Meanwhile, even if it seems like too much work, take care of yourself. Eat decently, get decent rest. Find someone who'll work out with you and get yourself some exercise.
Hang in there, mate.

Take a walk everyday... 30 minutes, not less, maybe more... It really helps.

Exercise and sex are key. Lots of both. Doctors orders.

You sound like me last year, you really need to go on some long walks, or bike rides, specifically at night, and talk to friends during the day, it really helps to get some motivation flowing.

Good advice.

Also try to take up a hobby, play bass more, try to make some new friends and maybe hang out more with the ones you have. Take a drive every once in awhile and explore new areas around where you live. Explore new places to eat, and new foods. Get hooked on a TV series. Come on TB more! Anything really, just try to change your daily routine.

Hope that helped a little.

What makes you want to get up in the morning?

Usually, the need to pee.

I've had two accidents where I was apparently without heartbeat and respiration and another with spinal damage that would stop me walking. I'm still here and fully mobile.

Today is good. Enjoy.

I get like this from time to time. I went through a horrible bout last year. Lost my wife, house, and job all over the course of about four months or so. I was in a deep, dark place for a bit. Everyone said exercise would help. So I started forcing myself up early enough everyday to go to the gym. My morning cardio soon extended to weightlifting at lunchtime. Soon after, I was running in the evenings. Three physical training sessions per day. I was working my way up to feeling great. Then while lifting one day, the ulnar nerve in my left arm was displaced and my whole arm went dead. Had to have surgery right away. That put me out of commission for a while. That put me into another funk. Took a while to work my way out of that but I did it. I suspect you will as well. Good luck.
I would avoid shrinks as they aren't good for much more than taking your money and numbing your senses with their prescription pads.
