First of all, even if we just look at the concept as nothing more than considering this piece of cultural flotsam becoming the icon of action movie characters, it screams "FAIL!!!" at the top of it's lungs.
Then, when we add in the fact that he wants to replace Daniel Craig, who is the best Bond since the best Bond, Connery, it just becomes laughable. There is no way in the world he is in a league with Craig.
Maybe he should go create his own character, and prove me wrong, but I doubt he can.

Now that they've finally gotten someone that actually works with the role, why go backward? I say let Daniel Craig have the job until either he no longer wants it, or is too creaky to pull it off any longer. I can't imagine anyone else (well, maybe Matt Damon, he was convincing as Jason Bourne, but that's an American...) actually pulling it off as well as he does right now, and that hasn't been true of the role since Connery retired from it.
