What is more odd?

The fact that I just sewed together a broken shoelace

or

The fact that I'm a man who knows how to sew?

The oddest thing is that you admitted this in public.

As serious DIY'er, I find it more odd that you didnt just buy a $1.97 replacement set from Walmart.

It was a blue Vans shoelace that I really liked and my only other option was a black shoelace. I didn't want to have a black shoelace in a black and grey shoe.

Then I would have went to Journey's or the Vans store.

I once had a belt break at work, and I used 12AWG speaker wire as a temp fix until My lunch break.

I want to learn how to stitch up flesh wounds. A suture kit would be a good addition to my first aid kit in my truck, if I knew how to do it.

I can sew a couch together. I learned to sew working in my dads furniture shop during the summers.

This whole thread is odd. I think I need carrot cake waffles for breakfast. Can't find them anywhere here so far though. :/

Seriously though - being able to sew is a great skill regardless of whether you're a guy or a gal. I think I'd have probably just run down to Journey's and picked up a new set of
Vans laces though. They have the blue ones all the time at my local store.

Throw the shoes away altogether. Think what you're doing, man; your toes are living in captivity. Free your toes, brother! They've been shackled and persecuted for far too long.
