Does Anyone use this McAfee Total Protection 2009 ?

I find that it is free after rebate.

Are you running any spyware scanning programs?

Linux at home. I have XP and vista on there for programs that require them.

I'm no linux nut and it has given me some headaches...but it's free, so why not dual boot?

Upgraded AVG works fine for me, tho I always get virus alerts when I go to TB moderator's home pages. WTH is up with that?

AVG, ZoneAlarm and Spybot: Search & Destroy are my resident programs. I also have Spyware Blaster for doing spyware searches and stuff.

I highly recommend not using McAfee or other big anti-virus software products, they're horrible, bloated, slow things that have only ever caused me problems. I use AntiVir and love it (downside is a solitary pop-up once a day), and previously used AVG which was great but got a little bloated for my liking. NOD32 is one of the best commercial ones around.

I think the best free ones right now are superantispyware and Avira Antivirus. I switched to those from Avast (which is good but has become pretty bloated) and spybot.

McAffae is the worst piece of turd I have ever come across. I actually had to download a 3rd party programme to get it all off my system because it was f'ing with other programmes I had downloaded to replace it.

I've always been a fan of AVG. It's free and I have had next to no problems with my system while I've used it. I also use Lavasoft Ad-aware to flush out spyware.

On my Windows Vista machine I use Avira Antivir and SpyBot S&D and on Mac OS X I use Clam AV for on demand scanning but no real time protection.
