it's a commodore VIC 20. It has no power supply so it is kinda useless. it's also dirty and has been sitting in an old building for 30-something years.

The Vic 20 was the precursor to the Commodore 64, which IMO was a fairly decent gaming system...a definite harbinger of the future!

Its a lot less work than blowing it up, which would be an even better pay off. Do you see the pattern here?
The more work something is = the better the pay off will be.
Apply as you see fit.

Apply as you see fit. | Good advice. I guess this means selling it would be a large payoff...

A keyboard like that looks like it would have a bunch of discrete components as opposed to just chips like the keyboards made these days..
The cheap ass side of me just loves cutting old resistors and capacitors off of useless junk and saving them for many years until I ever have a project that calls for them. |

We had tapes, raster bars, screeching dial up modemesque noises, cheat codes you had to manually type the programming code for, the works. I say open it, find it's sid chip and try and use it for some sort of musical end...

You should probably make sure it works, then keep it forever. With any luck you can retire on it as it will (possibly..maybe? highly unlikely?) be worth a fortune

Wow, I may have some money in my future.
