it's a commodore VIC 20. It has no power supply so it is kinda useless. it's also dirty and has been sitting in an old building for 30-something years.

Heck yeah! Back in the day, we would hook up our "computers" directly to the TV.

The Vic 20 was the precursor to the Commodore 64, which IMO was a fairly decent gaming system...a definite harbinger of the future!

Sell it on Ebay!

A minimal amount at best, for such a great payoff.

Its a lot less work than blowing it up, which would be an even better pay off. Do you see the pattern here?

The more work something is = the better the pay off will be.

Apply as you see fit.

Good advice. I guess this means selling it would be a large payoff...

You're right. bet FleaBay will give me 16.95. and after PayThiefPal and shipping, i'd have nothing left. I could take it apart and see what the gizzards look like.

You could donate it to Goodwill, I know one of the stores here has a computer museum and it's really nerdy neat to go check out that old stuff.

I would take it apart and see if there were any components in there you could salvage. A keyboard like that looks like it would have a bunch of discrete components as opposed to just chips like the keyboards made these days..

The cheap ass side of me just loves cutting old resistors and capacitors off of useless junk and saving them for many years until I ever have a project that calls for them.

Cartridges? Only the truly wealthy had cartridges for the commy when I were a lad. We had tapes, raster bars, screeching dial up modemesque noises, cheat codes you had to manually type the programming code for, the works. I say open it, find it's sid chip and try and use it for some sort of musical end...

I dunno if the VIC has the same sound processing gear as a C64, but the chip from a C64 generally sells for about $50, lots of people use them in making MIDI boxes and that type of thing.

You should probably make sure it works, then keep it forever. With any luck you can retire on it as it will (possibly..maybe? highly unlikely?) be worth a fortune

it has an MOS Technology 6502, which is the same thing as the 64.

Wow, I may have some money in my future.
