What TV?

Sign in to disble this ad
So I came across some extra money and id like to buy a new TV something 45-50 inches-ish with HDMI compatibility. What TV is going to have the best picture for the best price?
p.s. If I'm leaving out some other qualifier please let me know.

1. Buy 42 inch computer monitor.
2. get HDMI-out card for pc
3. Get Cable card for computer
4. Put screen in living room
5. get wireless keyboard and mouse
6. Sit around, watch tv, surf web and game
7. ?????
8. Profit.

I can't give you names of the monitors, but you get me. Monitors have finer pixels than do TVs, and will look better. Plus you can record shows from your DVR and then put them on your portable media devices. This is what I'd do.

Of course, you'd need to run Windoze or something....

LG for performance per pound, in the UK market. Or at least that's what I tell all the customers at work. You'll not go wrong with Panasonic, but you'll pay more for it. Look at Sharp too.

I see what you did there.

I'd recommend LG, Samsung, or Phillips.

Let's see, Performance, Price...oh yeah, you didn't ask about Reliability.

...So that eliminates Samsung.

ime the best Price/Performance/Reliability hat-trick in current flat panel television displays is an LCD from Sony. In the next few months dealers will be cutting prices on the entire lineup to dump stock in preparation for Sony's February 2010 total model revamp, so you should be able to find a top-of-the-line XBR9 series display for a really sweet deal if you just hold out.

If you absolutely must have plasma -- and you can't find a Pioneer Elite that fell off a truck -- LG and Panasonic are pretty decent. They won't kill your children.
