What is wrong with society?

Sign in to disble this ad
Srsly. We have threads about "black hole" being racist, "men at work" being sexist and now Feminist groups in Canada are trying to change the Canadian anthem, Becuase of the line "In all our sons command" What?!

What is this world coming too? This is madness.

The problem is the people who whine and complain about anything and everything are being taken too seriously.

Hey I'm part of society and I believe that nothing is wrong with me!

I'd like $2 mil in reparations.

Squeaky Wheel gets the oil, alot of oil gets the vote.

Simple equation, without getting too political.

I'd like it if the squeaky wheel was simply replaced.

The terms "political animal" is used to describe us two leggers (thought I think it is a trait that goes well beyond just us).

Politics is the act of dividing of resources and commodities.

The attempt by citizens to rework nomenclature (read: redistribute status) is no different than the acts that all of us participate in every single waking moment of our lives, just a little more blatant, or more appropriately: more frequently villainized, by those who represent the status quo.

totally called it!!! And why is "men at work" signs sexist? i mean there are no woman in that band?

In all seriousness i don't know why things are going like this. It's annoying. I mean i'm an atheist and i'm not complaining about "under god" in the pledge... but i am annoyed that they added that to the texas pledge :\ i think society is being babied to much so everyone is complaining and making a big ordeal about "racism" and "seixism". We should just all great each other with a deragatory word for our sex religion and race... eventually everyone will get use to it and no one will complain.

Yep, those that "have" want the world to stand still. Everyone else is the problem. Demonize everyone else ( historically, Indians, slaves, any foreigner, any other color but your own, poor people, stupid people, fat people, alternative life styles, ad nauseum) and then you'll feel better about yourself.

For the people who don't have, it's called exercising one's "Freedom of Speech" and a few other rights guaranteed by American's founding two-leggers.

While both sides are taking advantage of freedom of speech, maybe take some time off of bass playing and read/study the U.S. Constitution so instead of making statements about other people's behavior you can provide some insight into you're own philosophy and the basis for it. Put your philosophy/beliefs out in the market place of ideas and see if there's any traction for them. Then you'll really have something to talk about.

Deal.

Complaining is part of Freedom of Speech. It works both ways. You don't try to control mine and I won't try to control yours.

On the other hand, laws are passed by the legislature (local, state, federal). If I can get laws passed to support what I think is important, then it's up to you to do the same for what you think is important. Or if you want to start using derogatory words for our sex, religion and race on your own (exercising your Freedom of Speech), see how far that gets you until it catches on.

Until 1959, African-Americans were still not allowed to marry Anglo-Americans in some states. How did that become a law in the first place? How/Why was it changed? People questioning (Freedom of Speech) the "status quo" and then going about getting support to change it.

Just my .02. YMMV. IME. IMHO.

I find it ironic that your post discusses the lack of rights to avoid offense in an offended tone.

I'm going to have to disagree though, I consider the redistribution of liberties via official channels to be worthwhile.
