We all remember Tetris and the various incarnations of Super Mario etc. But are there any other games that have stayed in your mind because of their catchy incidental music?
For me it has to be:
Civilization 2
Railroad Tycoon 3
and Romance of the Three Kingdoms II back on the old Pentium 386 |

-"Apidya" soundtrack by Chris Hülsbeck (Amiga)
-"Turrican 2" soundtrack by Chris Hülsbeck (Amiga)
-The second tune of the "Darius Gaiden" soundtrack (Arcade)
-"The intro tune for the C64 port of "Myth" by the great Jeroen Tel
-Super Castlevania 4 (SNES), especially the treasury theme
- "Pokey's Theme" and the Kraken and Spinning Robo battle themes from Earthbound (SNES)
- The "Mother 3" soundtrack (Game Boy Advance)
- The "Subterrean Hell" theme form Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow (DS) because it has more meter changes than you can shake a stick at and you never really notice it unless you really pay attention
- The tune that plays during the first "portrait" level in Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin (DS) |

Journey To Silius is an obscure favourite of mine as well.

| | | Sim City 3000. There's one track called "Central Park Sunday" which is a really cool 5/4 jazz number. I believe if you Google it you can find MP3 dumps of it, but for some reason it didn't make it to the soundtrack CD that came with the game. There's plenty of other good jazz and new-age songs in the soundtrack.
Edit - Well, looks like Maxis is offering the entire soundtrack for free: http://simcity.ea.com/coolstuff/sc3k_music/index.php |
