What are your plans for Tuesday night?

PLEASE don't make this political.

I'm just curious how the public spends election day night. It's my first time voting and this feels bigger than the super bowl, BCS championship, or the world series combined. That may be because I'm a sociology major/polysci minor hoping to go into law school then government... But this feels like a really big deal!

I'm going to be Canvassing and phone banking after I get out of class at 12, then I'll be with my friends and we'll watch the coverage. The Daily Show and Colbert Report are going live at 10pm, so I'm sure that's what I will be watching when the official announcement is made...

Depending on how the night turns out, I'll end it with either champagne... or cocktails of the molotov variety .

I'm a poli-sci major who wants to minor in sociology.

I'm going to be watching the coverage on some big screen while taking part in an experiment held by a TA in my poli 10 class asking us questions about how we feel about candidates and stuff.

And I get paid.

Boo-YEAH!

I am going to be at work until 11:30pm.

My wife is a british citizen so she can't vote. We both hate politics and always change the channel if we are watching TV and something political comes on.

I am voting before work and will probably be checking the news sites as the night progresses.

All of our families are voting the same direction so we may have a BBQ or something to celebrate since we are having an uncommonly warm Autumn so far. We are planning on getting to together anyway later on in the week regardless, but we may have to add a toast.

I already voted (absentee), so I'll probably just do homework with the coverage on in the background until the announcement is made. Then, when the world doesn't end because x candidate wasn't elected, I'll go to bed.

Also voted via absentee. One of the political clubs on campus is hosting an election night event, so I may go check that out. The guys in my apartment may also be having a get-together, so I'll probably watch the event with them. Most likely we'll have plenty of alcohol out; it could either be celebratory drinking or angry/depressed drinking depending on who wins.

I'm debating two different scenarios:

1. Go to the [deleted] Party election party featuring several local candidates, including our current house representative.

2. Throw a ridiculous hoe-down at my house. Best case scenario: Ring in the candidate I want to win with a serious bash. Worst case scenario: I can practice my drinking if the candidate I don't like wins.

I have 9:00 am class on Wednesday... but that hasn't stopped me before.

Going to class with a hangover might not be as good as going to class without a hangover, but it's better than not going to class.

But I'd rather get paid than play pong... so...

1. Leave work early to vote .
2. Go home and watch the election returns, hoping that the least crappy candidate wins.

I'm going into Chicago for Obamafest. I didn't get an official ticket, but I'm going to try to get as close as I can.

I'm very much into politics and I always vote, but I can't stomach the dumbed-down commentary that saturates the air waves on election night. And I don't have a TV in my house.

I'll check online sometime in the evening to see who won and if there is no winner by the time I hit the hay, then I'll find out who won the next day before I head to work. Since I'm planning on throwing my vote away on a presidential candidate who isn't on the ballot, I have no plans for either celebration or outrage (depending on the outcome) like a lot of people do on election night. It's just another night to me.

Depends on how long it takes to count votes, if a recount is needed, ballots are lost etc.

We as a populace will generally know the result Tuesday night. Officially depends on the circumstances.

Ok, cheers. Then I'll just check when I wake up - that should be around Tuesday night UTC-8.

I will be in the local bar until 3am, the fact that the coverage is on there is purely coincidental.

And I will add

3. - Realize both of them will do nothing.

The OP asked nicely to keep this civil.
