A friend and I are having a debate. I say it's sounds illogical. He takes it as gospel. What do you think?

| | | Is this that "Secret" stuff? I was shown that video in high school (calculus class, for some reason. ) The whole deal about positive thinking is nice, but they take it to a ridiculous extreme. Complete bunk, IMO, and I've never heard of any scientific evidence that supports writing down your hopes and dreams in a notebook magically makes them come true.

My friend said that The Secret simplified it to the point of making it sound stupid but I haven't found much more compelling evidence. He says that it's more about action through positive thought guarantee desired results and that there was "physics" to back it up. I actually got angry at him claiming so without actually giving me anything to go on. I posited this scenario: "A man has been working his entire life to be successful. The man is shot dead before accomplishing anything that he wants to. What does it mean." And he said that it means that the man believed he would be shot and therefore it happened... yeah. This guy is fairly smart too so I was really at a loss for what to think of this.
He gave me these two articles to look at. The shorter one provides a nice, concise overview but I couldn't make it through the longer one which was chalk so full of bull**** that if it were released into our atmosphere the ozone layer would fail completely. http://applying-the-law-of-attractio...of-attraction/ http://www.squidoo.com/manifesting-abundance

Look at Kwesi in his profile pic, looking all suave and mature on stage playing that beautiful instrument.
Now look at the avatar again...

People have told me I look all sorts of ages. Luckily whenever I find myself in a bar they go for the higher estimates . Believe it or not, this pic was taken almost 2 years ago at a Big Band Jam.
Lol, hurray for further derailing my own thread
