$100 for me, on a scratch ticket I bought back in 1992. Spent it all on shoes for the wife and kids, and took the gang to McDonalds with what was left. Since then it's been just Twosies ($2) every now and then. I generally only buy one or two scratch tickets at a time, every once in a while.

I won $27 from a scratch-off in a grocery store in MD. The cashier mentioned no one ever got that excited for $27.

I've played the lottery I think once, and pretty sure I got $5 when I did.

I bought two tickets for Cash Explosion, the TV show here in Ohio, in 2001. One was an entry to be on the show. It was drawn, and I was on the show. I won a 2001 Pontiac Sunfire and $5600. The lottery took care of paying the income tax on it. I was responsible for the sales tax. The dealer called me to ask what color I wanted, and he told me there was a manufacturers rebate that was more than the sales tax. They delivered the car and a check for $181, which was the difference in sales tax and the rebate.

Yup, my wife and several of my friends among them.

Oh, wait . . . you meant buy the things and "play" the lottery. The folks I know just got lottery-funded college educations.

I can remember winning $16 a couple of times. I think I may have won $20 something once. I get lucky with small amounts ($8 or $10) sometimes. More often than not, however, I either get nothing, or win a free ticket. The free ticket often loses.

There was a time that I almost won $103. It was a ticket with playing cards on it, and all the cards in the hand matched up, except for one that was the wrong suit.

Not playing=winning
I've never bought a ticket, so, assuming one $1 ticket every other week for the 25ish years there's been a lottery in my state, and, the occasional small win, not less than $500.

$50 on a scratch-off in Ohio one morning on the way to school back inthe early 90's.

The one I did NOT win? I played the same six numbers religiously in Pennsylvania for over a year. One Friday I was out traveling on business and could not stop for a ticket. On that evenings' draw, I "matched" five numbers and missed $1250. Boy, did that ruin my weekend....

Personally...I shared $500 with someone once.

But...I work in a large government office building and know few big winners. A lady at work won one third of $2.2 million about 10 years ago. Another co-worker won $4.6 million about 3 years ago. 2 years ago, the brother-in-law of the lady who sits next to me won $14.7 million, and last year the ex-husband of another co-worker won $12.5 million. So far, none of it has trickled down to me...

My girlfriend and I won about $200 once about 20 years ago. I put my half towards a new bike. (That was before Florida restructured the prize system to make it more profitable for the state.) Other than that, we won a few bucks here and there. However, considering we bought $1 or $2 worth of tickets most weekends for a couple years, we probably broke even. I haven't played it since.

I was in a group at work who pooled money for lottery tickets. I was in it because there was a really cute girl who talked me in to it.

Anywho, we rotated who bought tickets and when it was my turn I bought the required number on Friday. After the draw on Saturday night I went Sunday morning and bought a ticket for the following week with the winning numbers from the night before, and slipped it in to the stack.

Monday when I got to work a couple of people hit me up as I was coming in, asking if we'd won. I tossed the stack of tickets to one of them and said I'd been too busy fishing to check them. About ten minutes later I hear a lot of hollering and here comes the guy holding a ticket over his head screaming "WE WON WE WON WE WON".

To my surprise it was a few hours later before someone noticed the problem with the dates on the "winning" ticket.

I thought it would be a good joke...the people who thought they were going to split 10 million bucks...not so much. A couple of them even threatened to beat my a** in a very serious tone, but never followed up.

Even the cute girl got mad so I had no more reason to participate, and dropped out.

I won $500 on a scratch off about 20 years ago. I haven't bought any in years.
A good friend of mine won 6 million in the Ohio Lottery about 25 years ago. An acquaintance won $34 million in the Ohio Lottery about 10 years ago.

I sold a $3000 winning scratch off to a regular customer when I was cashiering at a gas station and he came back and gave me 100 bucks. I guess I made his day. That's kinda like winning the lottery right?

No question about it. My kids were little, and they went through shoes like crazy, so the $100 came in real handy. Today, they'd spend the money on beer!
