Dang---met a guy with the unfortunate name of Johnny Boutay.

Whew! School must have been tough.

Back when I was a waiter, I had a very well dressed man and his family come and sit at my table. Wonderful people, couldn't ask for a better table. I gave him his ticket, and he paid with a card. On the card, his name read:

"Masses Thomas Bates II"

Masses T. Bates. The SECOND. I felt so bad for the guy, but it was SO funny. A couple of months later, my dad came home from work, telling me about how he had conducted business with this same guy.

If you're out there Masses, you're awesome. Thank you for the $10 tip.

I've heard some great ones from teachers in my family, and baby names from when my mom worked at a hospital.

Still, my personal favorite was a Lebanese kid named Chahin Chahina Chahin. His sister's name? Chahina Chahin Chahin. I don't recall if he was Chahin Junior, or the third etc, but I feel like it was a bit of a family thing.

George Foreman's kids still have it worse though, in my opinion.

I'm pretty sure it would work- almost certain...

My wife teaches at a preschool in a predominantly asian area. Often, parents will give their kids more americanized names to help them fit in. She had one student named Makween. If you have small children then you know of their affinity towards Disney's Cars movies. All the little boys wanted to be Makween's friend because of his cool name.

There was another student whose parents gave him the name Peter Pan. The school talked to the parents and they changed it to something less familiar.

When we went to Disney in December of '10 there was a Chinese waitress in Epcot Center with the name tag Wing Man. My father in law refused to take my picture with her . I'm sure, at least hope, that her name just didn't translate well.

And I thought this thread was going to be a tribute to Rodney Dangerfield...

I'd post a one-liner or two from it, but I'm pretty sure I'd botch it.

There was a Chinese player in the NBA named Wang Zhizhi. When he came off the bench, the commentator (I think it was Marv Albert) said "Here comes the 7 ft. Wang."

Nevermind the fact it's probably pronounced Wong.

IIRC in France "ZiZi" is like childish slang for "wang" so to an anglophone living in France, Wang ZhiZhi's name would be like "penis penis".

There was a kid I went to school with named Dexter Poindexter.

Also, though Im unsure of the spelling... my wife's asian students use the word, pronounced "she she" when they have to take a #2.
