I gotta vent about this one. I don't get the whole twitter thing. I've tried, but it seems to me the most ridiculous , stupidiest, idiotic, juvenile. EGOTISTIC(more egotistic than facebook even) thing I have ever seen in my life. Who has the time and or ambition to actually send out "tweets" (I cant even stand to type it it sounds so stupid .

I call Facebook "The McDonald's of Social Interaction". More generally, a "fast food" version of socialization. Twitter, Myspace, Burger King, Wendy's...
Twitter is, IMO, the worst of them, although Facebook is certainly up there, due mostly to the fact that it's generally looked on pretty favorably. The reasons for Twitter being evil are pretty blatantly obvious, and have already been stated, but make no mistake, Facebook is of the same evil social networking spawn as Twitter. I just hope that people realize the folly of attempting to make social interaction more and more remote before it's too late. Wait...actually I don't. I hope we go extinct as a result, really. What a load off Mother Nature's mind that'll be, huh?
I have a Facebook, I hate to admit. FWIW, I spread my message of social networking boycott through Facebook. Not sure if that negates the evil of my using it in the first place...

Social networking isn't a bad thing if you're not simply using it the same way people used MySpace back in '06, as friend-count contests. But that is what Facebook is teetering on the edge of becomming...or already is...the new MySpace. No one really gives a damn about that place anymore....
I give Facebook 1, maybe 2 "updates" tops more before they fully make that transition, and a new, hip, "more underground" replacement pops up in its place. Friendster wanted SO BAD to be that a couple years back....but that site is a ghost town too.
Any guess as to what Facebook's replacement is gonna be?

If I had a company, I'd use them in a heartbeat. I'm also planning to suggest to my band to move our Myspace page to Facebook because Myspace's popularity is declining. For "private" purposes, I have no need for them, though.
Still, I sometimes like following tour reports by musicians I like on Twitter, but fortunately I don't have to register an account for that.
Why do you guys think Myspace is no longer "hip" today, by the way? I've always thought it was because Facebook managed to target a wider audience and is easier to use.

Then, never find a reason to use other social network. Email is sufficient to keep in touch with real friends. And bass forums to share with bass fellows |

1. Among friends, Twitter is an anecdotal tool. It's light fun and shouldn't be taken too seriously.
2. As a freelance designer, looking up the global tweet network for design-related tweets yielded some very fun contracts.
I have been the ante-tweeter for a long time, but I guess I'm converted now.

I have never posted a "tweet" and I've always found it ridiculous that anyone could care enough about smoeone else to read their "tweets". Celebrities, bands, I can understand, but everyday people posting their happenings? Who cares?
