That's an Einstein quote, IIRC.

If you make a mistake, make it three more times and call it jazz.

ps: Please don't go smart*** and say there's no mistake in music, or art in general.

"You know..... I'd like that guy better if he had a bloody nose".

I'm not sure if that's a Phalex Von Porklipps original or not, but if I stole it from someone, I have no recollection of who or when.

If you have to hold the bathroom door closed with you leg while you're going potty, it's modern architecture.

"If your aunt had balls, she'd be your uncle"
Heard that from my little league coach whenever someone would say "If the ump hadn't blown that call we would have won the game", etc. Counterfactuals. If things were different, they'd be different.

Too many to list, or even have a real fave; ATM I often say 'in the language of my people(white euro-descent)' before an attempt at humor. Sometimes it works.

A favorite of mine:

Pretty gentle way to put down a work partner or employee who screws up.

"A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects."
-Robert Heinlein

"The fact is that the average man's love of liberty is nine-tenths imaginary, exactly like his love of sense, justice and truth. He is not actually happy when free; he is uncomfortable, a bit alarmed, and intolerably lonely. Liberty is not a thing for the great masses of men. It is the exclusive possession of a small and disreputable minority, like knowledge, courage and honor. It takes a special sort of man to understand and enjoy liberty - and he is usually an outlaw in democratic societies."
--H.L. Mencken, February 12, 1923, Baltimore Evening Sun

"As nightfall does not come at once, neither does oppression. In both instances there is a twilight when everything remains seemingly unchanged. And it is in such twilight that we all must be most aware of change in the air - however slight - lest we become unwitting victims of the darkness."
--Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas

My two favorites:

Don't remember where i saw it, or who said it, but i live by it!

"Trying is the first step towards failure."

And similarly, from the same great man:

"You tried your best and failed miserably. The lesson is never to try."

I say both often to my young daughter. She's either going to grow up and have a great sense of humor or she's going to fear the world and hate my guts.
