By cheap I mean between $10 and $12 a 12 pack. I've been given a budget of $20 a week for beer and so now I must find more economical ways to get my beer fix.
I'm a BIG Sam Adams freak but for what I like, the Sam Adams Double Bock, it's $10.53 a 4 pack, which is waaaay over budget for me to buy during the week if I want it to last.
So far, I've found Molson Ice to be a decent low budget beer. It's not nearly as good as the Sam Adams stuff, IMO of course, but it's better than Bud Light or Coors or anything like that.
So, what's yours?

So, what's yours? | Sam Adams 12-packs are usually $11.99 at the Vons over here. Now, you won't find the Double Bock, but you could pick up any of their seasonal beers for that price and theyre always pretty good. I love when they put out the Summer & Winter Variety Packs. 2 each of 6 different beers (though 4 of them will be Boston Lager and Sam Adams Light).
If I'm talking CHEAP beer I'm usually going Miller Hi-Life, PBR, or Natty Ice at around $7 a 12er.

A few years back a 12er was seriously around $5. I remember I once bought a 24pack of Hi-Life (the Champagne of Beers) for $6. And Im talking maybe 4 years ago tops (cuz Im only 25).
When I got o buy beer I have to decide if I want quality or quantity. A 6 pack of good beer runs the cost of a 12 pack of the cheap stuff.

| | | | I don't really have any recommendations for you because I don't drink alcohol but this post reminded me of a funny story. I was just out of high school and was working construction. I didn't have time to make food so I went into my local Supermarket called Ralph's to get a deli sandwich that comes pre made. It was six in the morning and as I was paying for my sandwich, this lady probable in her 50's was buying a case of beer that was totally generic. The can was all white with completely plain lettering that read "Beer" nothing else on the can. No doubt it was the cheapest stuff there was but it cracked me up to think ho hard up for beer this lady was that she needed to buy a case of this totally generic stuff at six o' clock in the morning.

If I was to go for beer (I'm normally a cider drinker) I would say Stella Artois, looking at the higher end of cheapish beer.
Our prices are a bit heavier I think, that would be about £12 () for 12 440ml cans.

I used to get Fosters Oil Cans for $1.50 each and get a buzz. Now they're pure horse p**s and more money. My tastes have gotten so snob-like that I have a hard time picking up a case of the Molson Ice but hey, the wife says $20. I'm digging Blue Moon Honey Moon Summer Ale but they're $9 a six pack and the Double Bock and Imperial White are $10.43 a 4 pack.

I consider the cheap stuff to be diluted beer, so I think the "value" is about the same. If I can't afford a good 6 pack of something nice, perhaps I don't need to drink. |
