Whats your favorite small town food joint?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm talking about those small, inexpensive food joints that serve the most delicious food you've ever had, and probably the most unhealthy too.

For me its a place called Taco Treat. Best dang fried burritos ever.

If your ever in Southern California its at 74 E Live Oak Ave
Arcadia, CA 91066.

Your turn.

Greatest cheese steak outside Philly. Steak is perfectly done on a roll, American cheese, tomato sauce, onions, and pickles. Scrumptious.

Carl's Corner
W. Elizabeth Ave.
Bethlehem, PA 18018

There are a couple places for me.

First is Pie Hole pizza. The pizza's very good, and you can get a good sized slice and a drink for around $3. I almost always go there when I'm downtown and looking for some food (only time I can remember that I didn't go there was when they were closed to remodel).

The second is West Side Drive In- I go there a little less because it's more expensive, but they have a wider variety and the food is delicious.

That may be a good sandwich, but those are not ingredients you put on a cheese steak.

Another good one:

One of the best burrito's I've ever had. Ironically, there was another burrito place in the same building that sold a burrito that would feed a grown man for three meals for about $6. These burritos are smaller, but more tasty:

David's Rumba Café

Sauteed onions and cheese wiz. I know...

I like to eat things the way they're made, without specials. There's a reason they cook them that way, I'm going to eat it that way.

Works for me too.

When I go into little mom and pop joints, I tend to shy away from "customizing" what I order. I figure it the same way you do....they make it the way they do for a reason, so I'll stick with what works for them.

I could never pick one, but Hamura Saimin in Lihue, Kauai would be right up there. Pic is from there, good stuff.

I also love Spang's Pub in St. Germain, Wisconsin.

And there is a noodle shop in Kamakura, Japan, about a block from the big buddha, that's just killin'. No idea what it's called, but I could find it blindfolded.
