Where are the frogs?

I have lived in Northern Virginia for over 30 years and in the same house for the past 10. This year there are no frogs for the first time I can remember. Has me worried we're next.

I moved into this house across the street from an old millpond 12 years ago and there used to be a ton of frogs croaking at night.

Now I rarely hear 'em anymore. Weird.

Random pick from first page of Google hits:

Simply put, there have been mass die-offs of amphibians.

Shoot me your shipping address, I'll pack a bunch up and send them to you. It's almost hard to get to sleep with them croaking making a racket It's been raining here everyday so they're out in full force.

If you want huge crows, just ask me, though.

This, or beavers.

Same here. I pulled 12 out of the pool just today, some living, some not.

Really?!?

Just another casualty in the earth's ongoing battle with it's "humanitis" disease.

No worries though we won't destroy the earth... it'll take us out first... and then the frogs will come back.

If it is 'The greenhouse effect' why don't we just build fewer greenhouses?

They're all committing suicide in front of my car. When I'm driving after a storm in residential areas (read: Still grass and trees) there are hundreds out in the streets, and they all jump in front of my car. It makes me sad every time .

I noticed this as well, but then I found about 3000 tadpoles in a friends pond. My guess is that they are just developing later this year.

I always try to run them over once the road cools off at night and they all gather on it.
