Órale Y'all,
Okay, the Temp's, Supreme's, ANY Singing group of the 60's-70's, ect did choreography in their show's, BUT, they also sang, and sang STRONG! Today's Diva's and Justen Beiber's of the pop and R&B (lol!) just CAN'T sing...do they rely on a massive 200 "epilyptic" crew of zombie dancer's to sway the ear's from the awful vocal's and "pitched-corrected" gimic's so the eye's have stage candy? They new act's just can't stack up to the act's of the past...right??

I can't really see any talent at all, but someone clearly can. I also can't really hear what I would consider to be a song/piece of music. Just to make it more relevant to the post, imagine this without his "posse" (terrible word, that). |

Standing in place and doing a few dips and spins is not like the incredible athletic performance of today's dancers.
Are our current pop stars terrible? Should they focus on singing instead of dancing, maybe so... |

Teeny land has always been full of talent challenged children that rack in the cash for the length of their short shelf life before a new flavor of the month is found. Capitalism at it's best! They absolutely need their "posse" to offset their lack of any musical ability (witness the Bieber vids) and add some 'excitement' to, what would otherwise be, a painfully bad performance. I just feel bad that when their 15 minutes of fame are up, when their voices change, when their teenybopper cuteness goes south, or when their parents/business manager/handlers bleed them dry of money, they are left wondering why, at the ripe old age of 20 they are washed up, broke, and 12 and 13 year old girls aren't swooning anymore. By this time next year, we'll be saying "Justin WHO?"

In the case of New Edition, very good choreographed dance moves and decent vocals! En Vogue, excellent vocals! I haven't seen an artist since (other than a Jackson) who's singing talent matched their dance skills! Britney? Can dance but can't sing a lick! Madonna? Can dance but can't sing a lick!
I take that back.......Beyonce can sing and dance! Very talented and good looking too! |

She has taken a lot of flak because she lip-syncs at her live shows, but the key word in there really is 'show'. If you go and see Britney live, you aren't going to see a gig, you're going to see a show. She might not sing, but if she did sing then she wouldn't be able to pull off the dance routines that she does, and the show wouldn't be as good. It's all very theatrical - vast stages, props, costume changes, and all perfectly rehearsed to provide great entertainment for the fans.
Also,

Because the vocals were all lip synced and the shows never even bothered to put people on stage faking the instruments, he really thought a band was 5 people singing and 74518758472365418723234 people dancing behind them on stage. It never occurred to him that people had to actually play music at some point.
