The newest member of TB, Gary_Oak_9001, is busy posting inappropriate spam all over the place.

There are minors on this site, and I'm sure most others don't want to see it.

Something needs to happen; will somebody with the power to do so please take care of this?

Thanks

Thanks for reporting this - I have banned that user from further posting and my colleagues will clean up whatever is in their respective forums. In future if you encounter this sort of issue, then please could you use the post report function (red triangle with exclamation mark at the top right corner of each post). This is generally the fastest way to bring it to our attention.

Thank you and I will be sure to do that. I did not know about that option and I was going frantic trying to find someone to take care of it. Naturally, the solution was right in front of my face so I overlooked it.

This is also what users have been instructed to do when they find off-topic threads, and I sure wish more people would do it.

Sure is a huge exploitation of some minor flaw in the system lately. Can these bots get past captchas and stuff?

The thing is that guy obviously wasn't a bot. You can fairly easily block bots but not people who's intention is to spam as they can answer the validation questions.

Ok, well I didn't see the spam either. All i was really saying is there has been a massive influx of spam on the site lately, and was hypotethizing why. I'm not really into the minutae of what makes a website work, I just post stupid crap.

Yeah I got a spam in my pm. Don't remember what username it was going by. First time this happened, I don't know if it's another system flaw.

I also got inbox spam by user doxna24, but I believe they were banned now.

just fyi, this Gary_Oak_9001 guy is not a spam bot, he's a dual-account poster (original account GrapeApe, name jeff mcbee) who apparently got emo about something, started another account and started posting the gay porn stuff. wonder how he found it.

both accounts are now banned, and if he comes back his ips will be banned as well.

the pm spam is from another, single user who is starting a whole bunch of accounts to do this. he too will be squashed soon.
