Where is the youth gone?

I was just thinking about this the other day.

My dad graduated high school in '70 (iirc, and yes my parents are old), just for a gauge on era.

He always tells me stories about crazy stuff him and his friends did in highschool and before. They were sneaking outside at night to drink and smoke weed from age 11. They set an old dorm room on fire at the boarding school he went to for part of highschool. They crashed 100s of parties. They drove prople's cars into lakes. They put a Frank Zappa album over the PA at his boarding school in the middle of the night. They almost set fire to one kids house. He grew up in the upper class of houston tx (for those who are from here he grew up in the tanglewood area).

There are countless other things that I'd never even dream of doing. He grew up with a bad group of kids, but he said everybody from that area was like that. I'm not from that area or that social class either, but I recently got a lot of financial aid to go to school at a private school in the area. Worst thing thats ever happened is some fights a little drug abuse (not anything bad, just like droppin E-Bombs before going to a party). I should also mention I'm also familiar with a lot of kids and the events going on at the public schools around here.

What happened that kids arent how they used to be?

It's those darned violent video games that we give all our kids. It's got em all brain warshed into not doin anything but sittin and playing those robots. Kids now-a-days don't gotta do nothin now-a-days but flip a switch and push a bunch of buttons to have "fun." No creativity needed.

I was prolly the last kid in america not to grow up with video games, and to play outside till it was dark out.

I guess I did it wrong then Drugs: check (pot), Booze: check. Cars in lakes: check. Cars upside down: check. Setting fire to things: check. Exploding things with copious amounts of illegal fireworks: check...

I was a terror...

You guys are weak. Until you're sleeping with your best friends sister and/or mom you're doing it wrong

None of the things you describe sound desirable. I'd be glad to live in a community where those things aren't happening.
