White Castle Hamburgers Appreciation Thread

Sign in to disble this ad
If you are fortunate enough to have a white castle nearby, or have in the past, this thread is to appreciate the restaurant, and the super laxative slyders they produce.

Show your love/appreciation for white castle. Anecdotes and funny stories/experiences at the restaurant are highly encouraged.

Also, please remember that several of the posts in the "farting during a gig/show" thread are probably the result of mixing beer and white castles.

I don't settle for anything less than a crave case of their cheeseburgers. End up having a nice meal for 2 days that way, and even if you nuke them they still taste good.

I think that Harold and Kumar movie tricked everyone into thinking White Castle tasted good. Its pretty disgusting IMO...

I went to Cincinnati in '95/96 for a Sports Med conference. Was there for 4 days and the only thing I ate was White Castle, Skyline Chili and hot dogs from Riverfront stadium.

It wasn't pretty.

White Castle has been around a LOT longer than that pointless movie, kal. I started eating WC's in '98/'99 so the movie had no part in it. Each person's tastes vary.

When I die and go to heaven, White Castle will be the healthy food of choice! Unfortunately I can't eat them anymore as I'm allergic to wheat

Just sayin. Theres one by my house and I think it's nasty. All IMO of course. I'm more of a burger king guy I guess? And I can guarantee White castle awareness went up 5000% because of that movie!

My brotha from an Asian motha!!

I thought I was the only one who had survived. It wasn't pretty, was it?

Funny thing is that I felt GREAT the first 2 days. Midway through day 3 in some of the lectures my guts started gurgling. I hit the toilet and released the Kraken. it was a toilet seeking amusement park after that. I had ZERO problems with the bugs at Riverfront for the night games though. People all around me were getting devoured by the skeeters. I didn't get a single bite- must have been the gas force field surrounding me.

The last time I visited NJ, I bought 'em by the sackful for my wife and I for our flight back to California. I bought way too many, though, and we ended up sharing White Castles with many happy folks on the plane. It's been eight years, I'm jonesing for some now!

Do I like White Castle? Hmmm... let me think about that:

My favorite coffee mug:

In a cheesy Indianapolis motel:

Yeah... I've been known to eat them from time to time.

We have had several (drunk) slider eating contests. There is no winner...

I actually "crave" them from time to time and enjoy them much more than their partners in crime (Krystal).

Lived in Columbus, Ohio for a short time - the MECCA of all things fast food, and comsumed MANY MANY of these wonderful delicacies! You can buy 'em frozen at the grocery here in Texas, but they're just not the same as the fresh, hot love of newly prepared sliders.

Along those lines, also miss Donato's pizza (oh my), and the wonderful, rich, complex essence of Skyline Chili (though the wife makes it here at home, and it's hard to tell the difference between the original and hers).

Miss those thngs.....

Chris

In New Jersey, many of us call White Castles "Rat Burgers". At the store in my hometown, we would order them like so:

"I'll take six rats and a box of tails"

You got six hamburgers and an order of french fries.

No, it wasn't pretty. By the last day, my body couldn't release the gas as fast as it was being developed. The back-pressure was unbelievable. The gas become so solid, you could literally touch it. If you tried to wave the fumes away, your hand would wind up with a layer of grease on it.

Since we are two known survivors of this diet, we need to do a documentary along the lines of "Supersize Me".
