Who Doesnt Like Facebook?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm sure there's been a thread about this before, but I just read on Digg something about adding a new "Place" feature and it just seems to me like facebook tries to promote non-privacy. That and the whole concept just seems like a waste of time. I can see it having it's uses for keeping in touch, but nothing that email/IMing couldn't do.

Thoughts?

I hate facebook in it's current form. Massive waste of time, especially with games and such. I do use and like facebook to keep in touch with some people, because I've stopped using IM.

We use any form of media we can to get our name out. Especially since we cut a CD. We are all over Facebook and Myspace and will have our own domain by the end of the day.

Personal, I'm really non emotional about it.

I used to think: meh. (Something wrong with your e-mail? Kids get off my lawn.)

But then I got in touch with a bud I hadn't heard from in almost 20 years. And now I feel a bit better connected with my Canadian college friends.

So I guess it's okay. I do get tired of all those "friend" requests from people I don't even know.

And I can see using it to keep in touch with people but there's so many other things on it that cause people to go on facebook the first thing when they go on their computer. Facebook has become a huge part of people's lives and I dont see why.
I recently asked someone if their laptop was 64-bit, and they said "hold on let me check my fb" and that just burned me. Why is that on facebook? People.

It's through many little irritations like these and seeing almost everyone in my classes logged into facebook throughout that just bothers me to no end... So IM/email for me!

I'm okay with it.

There's a blatant overuse of it, but then again I don't blame cars for bad drivers.

*Doesn't like* isn't strong enough- I prefer *abhors*
I dunno- there are people I'd like to communicate with there, but I'm guessing there are just as many I do NOT want to deal with. There's also the learning curve- I've never done it so I'd be pretty lost for awhile. I'd be indifferent but the vast majority of my musical contacts are on it ALL THE TIME, and I'm often out of the loop because I don't tweet, FB, MySpace or any of the other crap like that. What- voicemail/email & actual human contact aren't enough? I'm so 20th century...

I had a page for four days.
Hated it- I guess I'm not a very social guy.

i've been able to re-connect with some old long lost friends. i enjoy that aspect of it. there are people that seem to use it like twitter. i don't really care what you are doing every other 10 minutes. and no, i don't want to help you in mafia wars, see your facebookfishtank, or help you find a lost cow in farmville.

I like it. I've regained contact with people I lost touch with years ago, promoted shows and got a rough headcount really easily, and contacted friends of friends who seemed interesting. Artists, Photographers, a beautiful woman who plays bass in a C&W band, an old lady in France, someone in Islamabad, a few supermodels, and some minor celebrities. I like interacting with people that I didn't even know existed from all over the world.
