Who else is ready to give "Bashing MJ" mania a rest?

This man is an idol for many of us, so can we stop the disrespect? It's getting really annoying. Don't like him? Don't click on the thread or watch another channel of your TV. There's the "Power off" button too. Or read a book...It's really that simple...

I was never much of an MJ fan although he is just a little older than I am. To me he was just another kid. An adult like James Brown or Sly Stone was what I wanted to be.

I did respect his ability, and he did leave a huge impact on music. Thirty years on, we still speak in awed tones about Jaco, a legend who died young and tragically. So, I think we should be big enough to respect the emotions of others.

What bothers me is the obvious commercialization of his death, and the annoying statements of hangers on like Rev. Al Sharpton who spun MJ's foibles into some sort of political persecution.

im getting sick of everyone thinking he is a god, just because he's dead, itd be a whole different thing if you actually liked him before he died, but everyone is making way to big a deal of it, its getting rly annoying

I thought the original MJ thread on here was fine, after all, it was in OFF TOPIC. If you want to discuss his musical career and it's positives, find a thread in Miscellaneous or another music related section.
OT is to discuss non music related subject. MJ's personal life was a big topic for many years, now that he has passed I see no reason why it still can't be (almost all posts on here have been civil, and not much directly attacking him, certainly no 'bashing' threads). In fact, with his death and the amount of coverage it's been getting, what did you expect? Don't like the threads discussing his death, then don't open them.

See, I have a hard time avoiding MJ mania when it's plastered everywhere. I try to watch the news and it's MJ. I try to read the news and the first 4 articles are MJ. I want to read about[EDIT: Surfice it to say "politics" to appease the mods]...and it's MJ. There is no "off" switch.

Id rather the news stations gave up the 24/7 coverage on his death when there are things happening in the world that are infinitely more important.

I think that NPR and the BBC have dropped it already. Those are actual news outlets as opposed to the infotainment fake news outlets of the big 3 (4?).
