My hope is that the U.S. doesn't take Japan lightly. They beat them in a couple relatively meaningless prior games. But nobody thought Japan would get by the Germans or the Swedes. Their strength is their possession game. You can't score if you can't control the ball, and Japan has been great at maintaining a lot of possession time.

The U.S. has the height advantage, but so did Germany and Sweden. I'll have to watch a replay, because I won't be able to watch it live. I'd like to see the U.S. win, but if they don't, I'm glad that it would be to Japan. They have been through so much lately with the tsunami, etc.

Word on the Street is Japan is playing way better than they were when USA beat them previously. Not that I know anything about Assoc. Football, just what I heard on NPR yesterday.

The bit I saw of the Japan/Sweden game, Sweden's passing was terrible and their defensive play somewhat tentative. Guessing neither will be the case with team USA's game on Sunday.

Too bad she won't play the finals, but Maurine deserves a picture or two in this thread...

Gut wrenching loss for sure. The US really had no business losing the game. They missed a ton of chances early. Missing the first three PK's is inexcusable. There is no way back from that.

Damn, they had so many shots early in the game but they weren't on frame. Everything but. That was unbelievable.

I can't get over Carli Lloyd skying a PK like that. What was that?

And Alex Morgan is cute as hell.

not really a soccer fan, but was the USA suppose to win? Guess the fact they had penalty kicks makes it a little better - plus the Japanese nation needs some good!!
