Ouch! Did you get it immobilized? Will that solve it? Is it bad? I did, and it hurt like a biotch. Mine was kinda bad, landed on is totally wrong... immobilized for 4 weeks...

I had an compound fracture of my femur once. No pain to speak of. I was back on my feet in two weeks. NOT! More like five months. Count your blessings.

hahaha, I was thinking of puns too...

you're only in a splint? Oh, maybe because of initial swelling? Yeah, that really sucks.

I broke the end off of the radius thru the middle of the ball. It initially looked like a fracture but the end healed back on in a different place..... It took (6) weeks in (4) different casts only to find out 6 weeks after the pt was done that wrist needed surgery for a bunch of wrecked ligaments, cartilage, and a tendon....

Back to the question.... When the cast came off it took about 3-4 weeks to get 100% of the range of motion back. I couldn't say about the strength as I was not able to do much for strength training until after the surgical cast came off months later...

Best of luck with everything.

I fractured my radius believe it or not cross country skiing.

Wasn't a real bad break.....very painful "bump" before I got it casted. Took about six weeks to bake. About 3 weeks to get comfortable with it after that. Wasn't playing bass in those days, though.

I broke my radius in a motorcycle accident. The other, smaller, of the two bones in my forearm was good to go but the radius was completely broken. Technically it was a compound fracture because the bone was not cracked, it was completely broken in half. However, unlike most compound fractures the skin wasn't broken (thank God). Nasty. Didn't take much time to recover because they put a plate in my arm with five screws to hold the bone together.

Hurt like hell.

Apparently it is a crack at the end that meets the elbow joint. 6-8 weeks. Another 4-5 days of intense pain likely. no surgery or cast needed, thank dog.

I broke my ulna once in a real bad car accident. I'm surprised I didn't fracture anything else in that collision, as were the doctors. Luckily I did not feel it was my adrenaline level was extremely high. It was a distal left ulnar fracture that had been internally fixated with a side plate and multiple screws. I still have the metal plate and screws in my arm. The ulnar fragment was displaced ventrally about eight millimeters.

I had to spend nearly a week in the hospital. The worst was one night when I was trying to sleep and the IV bent inside my arm/vein. All of the fluid was seeping out of my arm and my bed was soaked. I got a bit of a fever and they couldn't find my veins to shove another IV in. They poked me roughly five times before giving up. They came back 20-30 minutes later and gave it another go.

I'd say that and them sticking needles in my head to pull glass out hurt a lot more than the my arm did. Playing bass was a disaster for a while.
