For those with T-Mobile cellphones, does T-Mobile let you make up your own phone number, let you choose from a list of numbers, or do they just give you a random number?

Are you looking for a particular number?

It was assigned randomly.

I asked for one in the new area code because none were available at the time and was randomly assigned one of those. I got my new number by asking for one in the area code, I don't know how much more you can do that.
When I switched to AT&T, I took my number with me. Is there a reason you're not doing this?

We did this when we bought a phone for our daughter last year. We chose the last 4 digits that would spell her first name.

They showed us a list we could choose from, but this was several years ago though so I'm not sure if they still do.

As long as you know their network isn't going to work in quite as many places that some of the larger networks do and don't mind that. If it works where you need it to work you're gold. |

-Mike | I've had T-Mobile since the Voicestream days (nine years now) and have no complaints. Like Philbiker I find the customer service of the company to be excellent.
