For those with T-Mobile cellphones, does T-Mobile let you make up your own phone number, let you choose from a list of numbers, or do they just give you a random number?

As far as I know, most cell phone providers assign you a number.

Are you looking for a particular number?

I have a UK T-Mobile number and it begins with 07904... so that's 00447904.

It was assigned randomly.

I was given a number. I've never heard of anyone choosing their cell number.

I have Verizon now, and when I got this phone/plan, I got to choose from a list of possible numbers, so I thought maybe T-Mobile will do the same.

Wow, when I got my first number with Verizon, I was randomly assigned one. I asked for one in the new area code because none were available at the time and was randomly assigned one of those. I got my new number by asking for one in the area code, I don't know how much more you can do that.

When I switched to AT&T, I took my number with me. Is there a reason you're not doing this?

If you visit an official T-Mobile store and ask, they might let you choose the last 4 digits of your phone number. We did this when we bought a phone for our daughter last year. We chose the last 4 digits that would spell her first name.

My fiance and I went to a T-Mobile store and were able to get two subsequent numbers rather than two random ones. They showed us a list we could choose from, but this was several years ago though so I'm not sure if they still do.

I don't know if Verizon can be carried over to T-Mobile, but if it could, it will save me and everyone I know a lot of time. Although a new number will be cool too.

Can't remember about the numbers, but I can say I have been completely satisfied with T-Mobile's price and customer service over the 4 years or so that I've been a member. As long as you know their network isn't going to work in quite as many places that some of the larger networks do and don't mind that. If it works where you need it to work you're gold.

I've had T-Mobile since the Voicestream days (nine years now) and have no complaints. Like Philbiker I find the customer service of the company to be excellent.

I'm sure the price can't be any worse than Verizon's....
