Who likes sleeping to music?

Sign in to disble this ad
The other night when I had my dorm all to myself, I decided to put on a mix of Explosions in the Sky, And So I Watch You From Afar, and Mimas to play through my computer. I realized that I really, really like sleeping to music. I'll take naps while listening to music sometimes, but sleeping with music doesn't really bother me either.

Anyone else in the same boat as me? What do you like to play while you sleep?

Not particularly, but Radiohead Kid-A has put me to sleep more times than I can remember.

gotta have some music on - tinnitus is a bitch!
generally end up listening to Kind of Blue or Minus the Bear's They Make Beer Commercials Like This.

Both on vinyl, of course; when you hear the click of the arm going back to base you know it's sleepy time..

Don't get me wrong, I love Norah Jones but if I'm having trouble going to sleep her "Come Away With Me" CD puts me away right now. Don't think I have ever heard it all the way through before nodding off. But, usually I like it as quiet as possible for sleeping.

I fall asleep every night to Brian Eno's "Music for Airports." I have every night for the last 6 months. It's a beautiful album, but just unassuming enough that I can relax and not listen to it. I never make it to the end of the album before I'm out cold.

Every night, last thing before sleeping is to turn on the classical/jazz radio station.

Every night. I just put something on at random. Never the same thing in a week.

aphex twin - rhubarb

listen to it. then again. then again. theres very subtle, crazy oscillations on top of the soothing melody. its kind of a yoga thing, where part of your brain is focusing on one thing, and one part on another. works for me every time.

i also have a bad habit of leaving a candle lit while i sleep, so i will probably burn to death to some soothing ambient genius.

I honestly cannot sleep without some sort of background sounds. Be it the A/C, a fan, wildlife outside, rain, wind, etc I need it to sleep. Of course I prefer music though . I normally just pick an album and dose off eventually. I'm actually about to put on Esthero's Wikk'd Lil Grrrls or Tony Grey's Moving and hit the sack right now ;p

I can't sleep to music. I end up listening to the bass lines in the song. Even if I am listening to classical I will start listening some of the second chair violins and I find myself turning it into a bass line.

My wife on the other hand will fall asleep in no time if music is playing softly.

I need some kind of soft noise but since we usually watch the news before bed it's usually the TV. I used to listen to music when I had a roommate in college, but once I had my own room it was back to the tube for the most part.

Albums I've used:
Steve Reich - Desert Music
any Diana Krall (dream about that sultry voice? You bet!)
Miles - Bitches Brew (I think just 2 tracks on the whole CD)
Holly Cole -Don't Smoke in Bed
Keith Jarrret - The Koln Concert (pure improv genious)
Bach's Goldberg Variations Daniel Barenboim
Kevin Mahogany
anything by Brahms
Sade
Gregorian Chant music
Empire Brass Quintet - Passage

I've watched Scrubs until I fall asleep for the past 4 years or so. Never thought about it until now. Weird.
