I've needed glasses since the third grade and switched to contacts for the longest time in my adult life. Now that I'm 38, glasses seem much easier to deal with than contacts.
Now that being said, for some reason, I can't wear them whenever I play. Since I rarely read music when playing, I don't see(pardon the pun) the need to wear them.
How many here wear them and do you wear them whenever you play? |

I can't wear them right now because I have a scratch on my eye from getting something in it. Sucks because I am playing squash tomorrow night and wearing glasses always throws me off when I am doing sports.

I'm not that blind, it's just a matter of convenience, being able to read stuff from afar. I have better eyesight than most corrected, slightly worse with nothing on.

I finally had the lasik surgery done last april and it's great!
According to the eye tests I now have 120% vision and I'm so glad I don't need glasses anymore!
I was never able to were contacts, I have too much of an eye phobia for that.

They are NASA-approved mini Hubble telescopes. And I still can't read the overhead menu at McDonalds with them on. |

I cant wear glasses at all when playing live, so if for some reason I cant wear contacts for a particular gig, I just go without and play blind as a bat.
I'm seriously considering lasik

I was never able to were contacts, I have too much of an eye phobia for that. | Well, I have an eye phobia too.
That why I'm affraid of laser surgery.
Does it hurt much? How long inconvenience afterwards?
I should research more about this I guess. |

I should research more about this I guess. | Well, I first did the initial tests. I told the doctor I had eye phobia, he kind of ignored me on that. Then after the tests the doctor told me that most of his clients say they have eye phobia but they really don't have it. Then he said: "But YOU really have eye phobia!!"
All patients get some kind of Valium before the surgery to calm them down, I was given 2! I was pretty relaxed.
It was pretty uncomfortable when they pried my eyelid open. It was held open with some gadget, but I was given a stress ball that I could squeeze meanwhile. Then a suction cup of sorts was put on the eyeball which slices a thin flap of the cornea. When this little flap is put aside, your vision goes super blurry. Then you just have to watch a red dot straight in front of you, which is the laser. The laser activates, you smell some weird burning smell. They put the flap back on and your eye is done! All in all it's about 1-2 minutes per eye.
It was actually less of a hassle then I expected.
I just had to take it easy for the next days. Had to put a bunch of eye drops but no biggie.
It's worth it by a longshot!

I'm still a little bit creeped out by what tell about how it's done.
Good thing it didn't last that long.
I'm considering getting this done. |
