I'm not really sure where to start with this so please bare with me.
I used to work for this company for a couple of years before becoming a counselor.
From what I know of the company it started in Spring Hill, Florida and was there for a while. It got investigated by local media and sometime after that relocated to Hudson, FL. I began working for them sometime after they moved to Hudson.
I was working for them about a year when suddenly they decide to relocate to Port Richey. IIRC, they caught the media's attention again.
Fast forward to either April or May. I'm working in the same plaza 2 suites down from them. Local reporters show up yet again to interview/investigate them. They are also under investigation by the sheriff's department this time.
Within a week or 2 of the reporters showing up I notice that the office is closed and remained closed. I was told they went out of business. My first thought was "yeah right, they probably packed shop and relocated again." I always found it suspicious that a legitimate company would move as often as they did within such a short period of time.
When I was working for the telemarketing firm, I always wondered about its legitimacy. I checked with the BBB and they were unable to contact them and had them listed as "believed to be out of business" with a last known address of Spring Hill.
I couldn't find any legitimate information on the company or even those it claimed to represent, (Pasco County Counsel of Firefighters being one of them.) Basically, the only info I could find was all the limited negative local media's articles. I even tried looking again for more recent info on them and again, the only things I found were these 2 articles.
I got a call from these guys on September 1st, (which is still on my caller ID) so I know they aren't out of business. Do I call the sheriff department? The newspaper I read about this stuff in?
I am ashamed to have ever worked for them. Even when I did work there I always thought something wasn't quite on the level. Though there are some things I know the boss wouldn't ever tolerate and that was us misrepresenting the unions and how the money doesn't help the department itself, it helps the firefighters. There is a difference, albeit a very slight and easily misunderstood one by many.
The vagueness always came when people asked what percentage the firefighters got. We were told to tell them there are no percentages, the firefighters control all the money and use it how they see fit, and how there are costs associated with all fund raising.
