I assume it's a manta, or is there another species that gets that large?

By the way, those things never cease to amaze me. They look so alien, so infinitely rad.

They tossed it back, it was preggers.

And by the way, what's with the brits insisting on using ancient standards of measurement? 55 Stone? Get with the industry standard, people!

The funny thing is that although metric has been taught in UK schools and used for 30+ years, the grand majority of people still use imperial. Including people of my age, which is weird.

Back to fish, yeah, it was pregnant.

Seriously metric is close to impossible to use in reality. How many people would know what 568ml (a pint in imperial) looks like, or 458g (a pound)?

Well we have 1L (1000ml) beer, and 1 kg burgers.

I find stupid to go all around the place saying "this is 1/350 of an inch"

I've never figured out "stone".

I just figure that once you're stoned, you're stoned.

28 grams = 1 ounce.

16 ounces = 1pound

Therefore would not 448g = 1lb.?

We don't refer to things that way. At least I don't. Originally, volume and weight was still measured out in amounts that were common in imperial - pints, gallons, and whatnot, so we ended up with wacky metric measurements for things like cans of paint, drinks, sacks of flour, etc.

But now (at least in Canada) many things are sold in quantities that are decided up with metric in mind. So paint is purchased by the litre, flour by the kilogram, and so forth. Plus, I'm just used to it now. I know what 500ml looks like.

I find the argument the two of you are having is stupid. You've really got nothing better to do than argue metric vs imperial on the internet!
