Should be a relatively easy thing to do, right? After all, I setup my last bands myspace page & it was just as easy as finding a profile, & lopping the code into one of the bio sections.
About a week ago, I created a new band page for the new band... and, discovered something about v2.0, or whateva. Finding existing myspace layouts, & lopping the code into the bio section of the profile no longer works. Instead, when you do that, it displays the plain jane profile, & you see all of the code text displayed instead of a cool profile! To confuse matters, when you click "customize profile", you just end up at the calender maintenance screen.
Anyway, w/ the older interface, you could slap together a page in 5 minutes... now, I can't seem to get anywhere.
I'm by no means a myspace expert, but, I AM a software developer so I didnt think things would be this wonky. Heck, I wouldnt even have a myspace page if I weren't doing the band thing. Does anyone have any tips, info repositories, etc... where I could get some help with this?
Thx A Bunch!

They give stuff class names like "bluetext" and "red2"...yeah not after I change it to green, and everything is inside a mess of nested tables so deep you get a headache after like 2 levels. |

I'd rather code a whole Wordpress theme than "customize" a Myspace page.

Using XML is the easiest way of going about it. CSS coding works too. |

It's really simple stuff. If you work with more advanced coding for a living than it should be cake to you. |

Thing is, I didnt think this was something you have to CODE... I thought this was one of those "grab someone elses free crap as a starting point, & then mod it" type of ez tool.. |

| | | | There are some layout generators and crap kicking around.
Plus, there are also sites where you can steal the layouts of other pages. |

| | | | All I know is people who put too much crap on their pages can take way too long to load, so I just end up leaving the page.
If you want people to stay on your page, be sure it will load quickly. |

To make it as optimal as possible I strip a code from anyone down to the basics and then drastically alter it.
The coding you do on your own is so minimal anyway though, depending how elaborate you make it. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
