I saw it in the mid 90's and it was great.

I totally disagree...Pete Townsend is a brilliant composer and musician...that is not to take anything away from MOon and the Ox...

I never saw all of the original members together either...when I saw them Simon Phillips was playing drums...

Yes Bruce, and he also didn't see Abba, which is 100% correct as well. Of course, he never mentioned seeing Abba, nor did he mention seeing the Who. I think we all get it now. At least I hope we all do.

I saw the original stage play when it came out in the 1971. Cannonball Express was the band playing the songs.
Didn't see the '75 Ken Russel movie. My parents gave me the soundtrack one Christmas, but I never played it.
Saw the Who every time they came to Seattle. Met 'em outside the back door smoking cigs after one Coliseum show, minus Townsend. They were short!
Stopped going to see 'em after Moonie died. Couldn't bear it. Tho I sent my wife solo twice.

Tommy is one of the all time great rock albums!!

Two groups that stand out from all the rest in that time period are The Who and The Moody Blues. Writing rock operas is a whole additional level of difficulty above and beyond writing and performing individual hits. Those two groups did something special.

Love Quad as well as Tommy! Total Who fan. I don't compare the two -- both great!
