Why are you still watching it?
If you don't, how do you know it's phony and ridiculous?

My fiance likes it. Lots of middle-aged women like it, and there's lots of advertising money to be made on that target audience. Cosmetics, Activia, Boniva, etc. etc. That's why it's still on.

now that is (sometimes) a funny show. Well ok, I admit I watched the first season...what else was there on Sunday nites?

That's kinda the thing with them spinoff with a novel twist type shows...they're only good for one season, then the formula is established, and the subsequent seasons are all typecast....

Oh, he's the mook.
Oh, he's the racist.
Oh, he's the one who wears women's panties

It's not like the viewers got any smarter since last season.

I just like watching all the douchebags break down and cry when they get called out on their s***. Like, they show this video of these pricks all "Imma cheat on my womun with you, and you, and you" Then when they watch it with their gf's there they all cry like bishes.

Because people like my wife will still watch this garbage.

I love it because I can disappear and do some focused practice without being interrupted.

a family member watches the show, an so it is on in my house.

I of course know that people watch this nonsense, and that's why it is still on, so I guess my question is...how can people be fooled? All reality shows seem ridiculous to me because whenyou have cameras on you, almost everyone naturally behaves differently, putting on a show. It seems absurd to me that these people would be trying to build genuine relationships on camera. Plus how can someone build a genuine relationship when the process includes courting a bunch of other women?

It's nonsense to me.

Meh...are any of the reality shows different? I've been trying to figure out how Survivor lasted so long, but some people really love it.

Heres a better question: why is my gilfriend (who is about to graduate from med school by the way), watching it with all her friends tonight and reverting back to some preadolecent mind set around the mystique of this television program.

If everyone stopped watching bad tv, eventually bad tv would go away. Eventually.

Youve just answered your own question. Thats why people watch these shows, because theyre ridiculous. And people like to laugh. I think most people realize that these shows arent real, they dont watch because they think they are, they watch because when people 'put on a show' they act like idiots. I mean, Americas Funniest Home Videos has been on for how long? How many of those moments do you think are set up for the camera? Most of them Id guess.

My girlfriend loves all these VH1 'reality' shows. She's knows theyre as fake as you do, that doesnt mean that the content can't make you smile.
