It takes a while to make. Plus the rise in food prices across the board.

Armenian beef jerky, called Basturma, is some sort of dried and left-to-rot kind of meat which costs nearly twice as much as any other kind of pastrami/bacon. :O

If it's rotten, it costs moar.

It's due to the rise in world oil prices.

Someone's actually gotta drive round knocking some animals down to make the roadkill that goes into the jerky, then someone has to drive a pick-up behind them to pick-up the roadkill.

Not as cheap to make all that roadkill as it used to be!

gotta raise a cow, feed a cow, kill a cow, dice a cow, flatten a cow, cook a cow, smoke a cow, package a cow, advertise a cow, and drive a cow to 7-11.

Because it's dried, it's volume is greatly reduced. You get quite a lot of beef for your money...I guess. It's just shrank and dehydrated! Sure is tasty though.

Cause the Jerks put up a fight. It wouldn't cost so much if it was "beef nicey"

Dude, make your own. It's much cheaper.

All you need is a food dehydrator. My beef jerky is superior to anything you will find in a store. And when I make it, I end up with ziploc bags full mwhahahahaha. I feel like a pothead, except my stash is dry seasoned beef strips.
