Why do people expect me to do things?

How the hell am I suppose to get anything done when the simpleist things always go wrong?

I'm having a hard time seeing and need new contacts, but they won't give me any unless I take an eye exam. Then they make me pay for the damn eye exam. Once I finally go though that, they don't even have the kinds of contacts I need, so they have to "special order" them. (this is news to me, since I have been getting contacts for over 10 years and never had to wait a day).

Then after a week I still don't get them, so I call only to find out they accidently overlooked my order, and I have to wait another 7-10 days, and this is only for the trial version! They won't give me a real order until I try this one pair first.

Then I order my digital camera from a dealer across state, I get it today just in time just to finish my project, but *gasp*, they send me the wrong memory card, and now I can't use the camera at all.

I have to send this thing allllll the way back, then wait another 3 days for them to send me the right card. (of course the card is already opened up, so who knows if I can even get my money back) Meanwhile I need to use the camera, so now I have to go to the store and blow more money I don't have for a memory card I only need for a day so I can complete my project.

This kind of crap happens with nearly everything I do, friends and family have started calling it "Eric Luck". And then people wonder why I want to kill myself. blahhh. I wish I had cancer.

Yeah, but then they would find a cure, make it mandatory, and you'd be left with a large medical bill.

I think you'll find that people who have incredible talent(like your photography) often also have incredible bad luck. I know alot of very talented people who have little things go wrong all the time; I also know alot of people with absolutely no talent that have unbelievable luck.

That's the way it seems to go. It's unbelieveable how much bad luck I have on a daily basis. I see things going well for so many medicore hacks, while I can't even order a camera without something going wrong. I don't get it.

What sucks for me is that there really isn't a market for photography, so I'm kind of screwed. The only things that make money are things I suck at.

I don't think it's just you. I think everybody has these kinds of setback and inconveniences, but they become much more significant to people who have to live paycheck to paycheck. People with more money can weather the storms a little better.

Like in the examples you mentioned, somebody with money would just run to the 24-hour eyeglass store and buy a set of frames to get by until the contacts arrive. Or they wouldn't sweat having to own two memory cards when all they needed was one.

Sounds like you need to attend a self evaluation and motivation seminar Apply yourself more to your day to day functions and break the cycle. Build your self reliance and accountability. Nothing fixes itself. No matter how you look at it, life, success and happiness are up to YOU and ONLY YOU. Applying effort and initiative will begin to fuel motivation. Motivation and accountability are the two most important keys to success.

Look out here comes the...

Seriously, you're not the only one that has bad luck. Everyone goes through times when life takes a giant dump on them. It is just a matter of how you deal with it that determines the outcome. A bad attitude about life isn't going to change things.

Don't kill yourself. Go bowling instead. It's pretty much the same thing.

This reminds me of a joke Jeff Berlin told at NAMM this year. Seems an old guy went to the doctor to get some test results. The doctor said, "Well, sir, I'm afraid I have some really bad news. You have cancer, AND you have Alzheimer's." The old guy responded, "Well, it could be a lot worse. At least I don't have cancer."

Eric, have you ever first-hand witnessed a family member dying from cancer?

Loser. Probably the most ignorant comment I've ever read.

Every time I think you can't post anything stupider, you prove me wrong. Tell families of cancer victims you WANT to have it. Because you had to wait for contacts. Just shut up.
