Why is everyone in the world so negative?

So I live here in Western PA (exciting place that it is!!!), and I work at an athletic club.

Seeing and interacting with so many people daily, I'm kind of like a bartender or a hair dresser...everyone chats with me and tells me alot of different stuff about their life and affairs, whatnot...

From day to day talking to people it seems that there are so many people that have an extremely negative view on life. When I ask them how they are the responses are always, "hangin in there," "tired," "oh I don't know too early to tell," and then there's the group that doesn't even sugar coat it and goes straight for "miserable."

So I wonder if it's just the area I live in that people are so miserable, or if people are like that everywhere. I pesonally try to be positive, and realize that there's alot worse situations pretty much everyone could be in. Everyone has a bad day, but these people have a bad day every day.

Why is the world so depressed?!

Not everyone in the world. Just the sad state of the US right now. It will get better.

Look around- we're in an age where we're being homogenized into two categories, the haves and the have-nots. The former is a hella large group, the latter is not. Don't think this isn't by design, either. Roll the clock back thirty years, it was a completely different time. The world was a much more separated place. Modern technology now brings wars and economics right to you, 24-7, there is no shortage of bad news!

Add to that the fact that we, as a nation, are losing our status on the world stage, losing our credibility overseas, our economy is falling apart, and you have a good recipe for discontent.

Have a nice day!

I catch myself doing it.

"How are you doing?" "Not bad."

I'm actually doing well. I shouldn't let on that since my life has an absence of bad, it's OK when it's really better than that. It's just a bad habit that I'm trying to break.

How I'm doing all depends on whether or not I started my day with a hummerlongsong.

The form of response is formulaic and doesn't really tell you how people are doing. Don't worry about it.

+1 Ain't that the truth. Skyhooks called it back in the mid 70's with Horror Movie.
