Why me??

Sign in to disble this ad
For all my life I've been plagued with sinus infections. They can be very painful at times.

Anyway, it occurred to me that there was maybe a link between drinking beer and getting a sinus infection. Sure enough, I stayed away from beer for several weeks and then downed a couple of brown ales which led to....a dang sinus infection.

I don't really drink very much at a time, but damn I love the taste of a good beer.

It looks like no more beer for me though.

This totally rots.

I may have to take up drinking wine now.

Well, that's my venting for the day.

They're connected.

Beer contains yeast, good beer contains live yeast....... I can't really see sugar loving yeast messin with your schnozzola, but then again I ain't no doctor. Does Bud, or PBR effect you? Mass produced beer is filtered and devoid of live yeast.

Yeah, the mass stuff will do it too.

I talked to my cousin who has similar sinus problems and he's allergic to barley. I may get tested for that.

One of my great enjoyments of life is sipping a hand-crafted beer. I may have to give wine a try. Can't see how it could really compare though.

OTOH, I may be getting another sinus surgery to open things up (last CT, it was a fair mess up in there). And so there is hope.

I have occasional allergic reactions to the barley in beer. On the other hand, tannins in wine can mess with my sinuses as well. That's when it's time for a vodka tonic!

1. Get a Neti pot - Trust me on this one
2. get tested for a gluten intolerance - think I'm crazy? I had a gland the size of a bowling ball in my neck because of it.
