Why are people so obsessed with (sometimes lack of) hair?

I've been a baldy for almost ten years now, and it's hilarious how much it seems to bother people. I've heard every comment from "what's with the haircut?!", to "hey you forgot to comb your hair this morning!"

Now while most of these people are kidding and know me, it's still funny how much they can't get over it. I do enjoy the bald look, but I mostly just do it because my natural hair is hard to manage, grows really fast, and I never know what to do with it.

I think the best example is my grandparents: way back when I used to have pretty long hair, almost shoulder length. They *****ed forever about me needing a haircut. When I decided to go bald, they tell me to grow hair every time I see them. Can't win haha.

Being a pretty avid punk rock fan, I was thinking about just going all out and growing a big mohawk in the fall when I go back to school, then shaving it and letting people see what could be haha.

Anyone else every notice how obsessed people can be about hairstyles?

I just get grossed out when people don't wash their hair. Seeing greasy hair makes me queezy.

As a teen in the 90's I went through the long hair phase. Then buzzed it all off.
I've been using the smallest attachment on my clippers ever since. I'd be ok if it all just fell out or stopped growing, no more shampoo!!!!

Personally "I, just don't, believe it's fair, to judge a man, by the length of his hair"

but seriously, I love my hair, long hair all the way!

But I'm not obsessed with people having long hair, just with mine .

+1

when my hairline started to move back I went for the total shave, I cannot be happier now, I never went through the "hey! you are losing your hair" phase.

I just want to know why as you get older it grows less on your head and starts growing on other parts where you've never had hair before.

A while ago I noticed I this single hair sprouting from my ear! WTH! I'm going to be "that old guy with fuzzy ears" Great!

I cut mine off because it's way less trouble. I look at how much time and money others spend on hair and smile. I don't care if I go bald, it'll be even less work then

Why am I obsessed about hair, or the lack of it?

Because I don't like pulling things out of my teeth.

YMMV.

This is true.

But the period between having a full head of hair and having none, sucks

Need to get me another pair of clippers, go back to having a #1. (not had the balls to wet shave it yet )

Hahahaha. I have almost waist level dreads. I haven't washed(with soap) my hair since April 2007. I've gotten it wet, but no actual washing in over 2 years. My hair isn't greasy in the least. If you let it go long enough your body starts naturally cleansing itself. I can say with the utmost truth, in the 9 1/2 years my hair has been dreaded, i have never had any complaints at all about smells, greezyness or dandruff.

One of my best friends swears my hair smells like pillows. And i can live with that!

As a child, my brother-in-law commented to his father, "I know what's happening to your hair. It's falling off your head and landing on your face and chest."

From the mouth of babes.....
