So far, Farve has made a lot of haters eat crow. Considering the back and forth decision making of his playing vs wanting to retire, then signing but skipping training camp, why, because he is Brett so lets call it what it is. First they have to get pass the Saints.
Consider this as well.... The Buffalo Bills, Denver Broncos, and Minnesota Vikings each have lost a record four Super Bowls. Buffalo and Minnesota are both 0–4 in the Super Bowl.
If the Vikings win the big one, Brett will probably become the the new State symbol for Minnesota, and a bronze statue of him will be set in place on the steps of the State Capital. again first they have to get pass the Saints.
On the other hand, if they loose, they will hold the record for most super bowl apperences and NO WINS, surpassing Buffalo, Green Bay fans will be on cloud nine and rejoice at his failure to win the big one over there, after having the nerve to leave them and play for their rival, the Vikings.
This was a huge gamble on Brett. The haters were having a field day. Now lots of people are holding their breath I am sure, wondering if he will pull this off with a last second pass to wright with no time on the clock, or just flat out crash this week when they play the Saints, and have to go home and watch the big one with most of us here at Talkbass, from home. But there is next year of course and the Vikings did give him a two year deal worth enough for all of us here to buy all the basses we want, as well as plenty of your favorite stock, but again.... first they have to get pass the Saints. There are people who doubt Favre's ability to perform at a high level all season, but the vast majority of the "haters" that I've encountered are not concerned with his performance. They're concerned with the disrespectful and narcissistic manner in which he came to play for the Vikings. His performance on the field has no bearing on those factors. In fact, the somewhat self-righteous stance he's adopted after winning last week's playoff game only exacerbates his apparent personality issues. |

Hopefully the Saints will end his season a little early so he can get back to the waffling I enjoy so much.

Mike | Prediction (post Saints win):
Tuesday: Tearful Brent FAR-VUH at podium, bawling, "...I love this team, I love this game, but I just can't continue...", retires. Again.
Late July: Brent FAR-VUH at a podium, "...I love this game so much, and I want to come back and win another championship with (insert team that has awful QB here), because I love this team and coaching staff..." Again.

I'll get in an occasional pool, but I just don't follow it as closely as basketball. Yeah, so Eric's about six weeks out on that beer? Then he's right on schedule. You should have it sometime in July.
On that note SoCom Surfing STILL owes me a sixer for my Laker's clean up. |
