So I was sitting by the TV today and Survivor was on. I watched season 1 of Survivor and then got bored of it in the second season. I've come to hate it now. They mentioned that the season finale was next week. I figure this means nothing because before you know it, the next season will be on...and people still watch!!!
Then I thought of American Idol...these are two shows that are going on and on and on and I just can't understand why they're still on.
There's also The Bachelor series and I've hated that from the beginning.
So I decided to question....will this ever end? Doesn't anyone tire of these shows?!
Am I the only one who feels this way?
Comments, please.

That said, I'm no peeping tom. PASS.
I hate that I pay for tv. I've said it before...if I could only buy Nickelodeon channel monthly to appeae the boy, I'd do it, everything else is a waste or a repeat.

| | | | I find them all nauseating,
People watch stupid garbage to feel better about their own disappointing lives.
I can understand idol and think you can dance because it sort of moves back to the old days singing and dancing were the entertainment you got. But the dating bull, dear lord it makes you stupid.
1. use the news to make people scared of everything and keep them in their houses *check*
2. dumb down material so people don't have to think and just (turn their brains off) *check*
3. Advertise, advertise, advertise *check*
4. Give people the illusion of control in the show (make them a part of it) through online/cell phone interaction *check*
5. advertise advertise, and more advertising *check*
6. People will consume *check*
7. Profit *check*
8. rinse and repeat
This trash is extremely cheap to produce and a great advertising platform.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to throat punch the next person that says "man I just need to turn my brain off"
Or help them out by turning it off with a blunt object.

except the bottom to fall out of the reality show market within a year. but let's keep game shows...i like them

It saddens me to think people can be so shallow.
I do find the Amazing Race mildly entertaining though. It makes me want to do more travelling.
I havent had cable for over 10 years. Youtube & the interwebz has everything I care to spend my time on.

Well she doesnt watch Survivor, just American Idol, Americas Next Top Model, and all the crappy VH1 reality shows like Tough Love, Rock of Love, Real Chance for Love, For The Love of Ray Jay, Daisy of Love...
Then all the Bravo 'reality' TV like all those damn Houswives shows (but not the Desperate ones), and the Salon takeover shows.
I only watch a few things... Heroes and... no thats about it. I was glad when I was informed a few of our channels started disappearing, notably the Style channel.

Reality programming has been a cash cow for the networks... huge ad revenues for relatively little outlay. You've got to know the network heads are soiling themselves thinking about what they're going to do when people finally get tired of it and go back to expecting fully scripted programming. It is going to cost them a ton to hire-back all the writers that they've been able to do without the past few years. Not to mention all the additional actors who will require real pay for appearing in those shows instead of schmucks just doing it for expenses and a few months of fame.
Turn off the tube and spend that time with your family. Or practicing. Or volunteering. There are so many better things to do.

While my girl may swing that way, and Eric & his wife do live in the general area, the two of us have never met, nor do I believe our SOs have.
Hey Eric, my band is playing the Stardust in Downey at midnite if you'd like to swing by.
Haha.
