Don't know about in the US, but over here the job market is very competative (understatement of the year)!

Shave it if the job you are looking for is with any type of office or company where you have any contact with the public or if anyone in the company you have to deal with wears a tie. If the job is washing dishes at the local seafood restaurant, you're probably okay. Maybe if you are trying to be a clerk at the local video game store.
I'm not saying it should be this way, but that is the way it is where you and I are. Visible tats, piercings, unusual hairstyles, facial hair...they are all ways of saying "how can I make myself even more unemployable than I am already?".
When I was younger, I would occasionally grow my beard back after getting the job, and sometimes get away with it.

| It's funny how this country is picky about appearance, when I was in England people had tats and piercings that worked in law offices, and people didn't care. |

I always have some form of beard, sideburns, mustache even*, going on, unless I'm interviewing for a job. I'm not big on shaving altough I do look better (ie. not like an 80's porno actor and also younger) clean-shaven.
* Still in my 20's. Why aren't ther emore people rocking the mustache ? |

* Still in my 20's. Why aren't ther emore people rocking the mustache ? | I hate shaving so I usually have a full beard going on. I usually shave the mustache because it doesn't attach on one side. I like the beard because it makes me look older (I am 19) and I think it makes me look better as well.
