| Are you talking the type that vent out through a round hose, or simply the airconditioners that have the "ears" top to bottom that are supposed to 'accordion" out to the edges of the window? I suspect you are meaning the latter, to which I say don't use the frame-in at all, have the AC favor one side of the openning, anchor it to the windowpane with the screw holes, then affix a piece of play to cover the remaining gap. I would affix that in some manner to the window too, and then place a brace at the top of the windowpane to keep it from lifting, and to keep intruders out.
