Windows 2008 server questions

Sign in to disble this ad
For the admins out there:

I have a test server that the user wants Windows server 2008 as the OS, so that he can test his SQL and web apps. I need to give him admin rights to the server but I don't want him to be able to add server roles (like adding DNS or AD would be a disaster on the network) is there a trick to do that?

thanks

nope, if he has admin he can do it all. You can ask him politely to not add roles =)

If you have the hardware to put ESXi on go that route. If they trash it, production is not impacted.

Question is, why does he "need" admin rights? Heck, for that matter, why do they need a Server OS (assuming you have a dedicated SQL server somewhere, and the web apps have their own authentication etc.)
