...anyone else hate it? The emoticons look ridiculous, they've removed video chat (not that I used it), and they've also removed handwriting.
I personally have refused to update, and I removed it from my Windows update list. But why did they change it so drastically? Does anyone like it?

I uninstalled the 2011 one and downloaded the 2009 one afterwards.

| | | | Trillian is the best one IMHO. So many features that WLM simply doesn't have or doesn't execute as well. And it's a multi-client app so you can chat through many different networks including MSN, Yahoo, IRC, Google Chat, Facebook, and many more. And it supports 64-bit OS'es as well as MacOS. |

Plus I've installed Windows Live Plus (now Adware free!) and I like how it logs my conversations (once my computer crashed spontaneously due to a power issue, and my logs were still saved via the Live Plus method, though they were not saved using WLM's standard log feature).
However, if forced to update, I might look towards Trillian, as I also use Google Talk.
(As for video chat, I don't really care as I use Skype for video calls anyway, but it just struck me as odd that features were actually being removed in new versions. And handwriting I've always found useful when I need to draw up a shoddy image to illustrate something to someone, whether it be math or what have you. Why remove that?)

| | | | soooo your only looking for a chat logger? I'm pretty sure just about every IM program does that.

Another feature of the add-on is tabbed chats. Now Pidgin has this too, but it lacks the interface (at least one that I care for). WLM 2009 has a nice interface that I enjoy using. I'm sure it's not the only messenger with tabbed chats, but the combination of the features it does have with the UI makes me enjoy using it. It's not missing anything.
Which is why I don't see why the 2011 version removed features. Sure it has tabbed chatting now, but at the cost of a crappier interface and lost features.

Links weren't clickable anymore (apparently due to some virus threat in the 2009 version) and I've noticed message delays. Coincidental indeed lol
Also, I was wrong, video chat was not removed. I apologize.

Boycott! Boycott! Boycott!

| | | | Well so far I'm toughing it out using the older version, despite the non-clickable links and the messages being delayed or not delivered at all...we'll see how long it can go on like that. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
