Windows Vista Query

I run a Sony VAIO with Windows Vista.

Lately, whenever I boot my computer, it loads the icons from a bunch of crap I deleted (recycle bin, and then emptied) and then they disappear.

My computer has also been running slow as hell lately.

Any ideas?

Your native video cache is not refreshing like it should. Put the laptop in the freezer. It will help the speed of the refresh...

Yes..... Refresh.....

Tune-Up Utilities is a great set of automated tools to correct all manner of internal Windows problems. Give it a try, you can't lose.

It helps by constricting the circuits. Programming is one thing, but if electrons are not streamlined, everthing just wobbles, and you get old images.

Run Ccleaner.

To try and speed it up do all of the following:
Run some good spyware type programs such as SuperAntiSpyware or malwarebytes. Run a good antivirus scan. I think Avira is the best free scanner.

Finally, run a defrag. I like Auslogics disc defrag better than the stock Windows defragger.

I run AVG, spybot search and destroy, windows defender, and ccleaner currently on my computer. I don't use it for much aside for internet and school work.

I think the chick living with me now has been watching porn on it...

Go here and choose any one of the on-line scanners. Windows also has a live scanner that does a great job of improving performance and getting rid of malware, which it sounds like you have, but the thing takes as long as 24 hours to complete! When you run one of these, turn off any screen savers and set your power settings (in control panel) to High Performance. This will prevent the thing from going into hybirnate.

I think it's time to upgrade to XP.

Drop Spybot and pick up Superantispyware and Malwarebytes. I used to run Spybot too but I like the latter two better.
