Question Windshield wiper help needed

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys, I need some suggestions to help increase wiping pressure on the rear wiper of my SUV. At the bottom of the arc it cleans the entire width of the blade, but right inthe middle of the swing it's only cleaning about a 5" wide spot.

I just replaced all of my wipers (front and back) with those expensive frameless designs. The front ones work amazingly well for me and even clean perfectly in -40C.

As for my rear wiper, I put one of those aftermarket "springs" that supposedly add extra downforce, but it doesn't work very well for my application. Any suggestions are appreciated Should I maybe bend the wiper arm a bit to encourage more contact perhaps????

For reference, my vehicle is a 2002 Suzuki XL7 with the rear wiper arm tucked up behind the spare tire.

Thanks all!

Try taking the wiper arm off and bending it a little.

On my wifes escape, the wiper assembly tends to kind of walk up the shaft that comes out of the back of the car. There's a little spring lever that I can pull up and push the arm down farther onto the shaft.

Make sure the hinge on the wiper arm is free enough to move with the contour of the window. They tend to freeze up from lack of use. Some penetrating oil and working it back and forth should do the trick.
