30" here in Framingham. No loss of power and the snowblower attachment on my 10 year old John Deere GT 235 worked like a champ on my 220' driveway. Digging the cars out by hand was no fun and I still should get to the decks to lighten the load on them.

My wife missed all the excitment as she went to a conference in Orlando. She comes home tonight - maybe I'll leave the decks for her to help her deal with her guilt.

I just flew in from business in London on Saturday, noon. Roads were all clear in the city and all the way back to my house in Orange county. I got back just in time to start shoveling what looks to be somewhere between 18 - 24 inches of heavy stuff.

Got the garages and the front curb done. I'll be back out to start on the driveway and walkways shortly. It's days like these that get me thinking about plopping about $1000 on a big snowblower that I would use maybe once every 2 years.

That sucks, any idea how soon it will be back. If you need a generator, PM me.

It would be cool to have a riding one. I use an Ariens 5524.

Thanks, it is the only way to go when you get to my age. I looking to add these. There appears to be as many opportunities to go crazy with lawn gear as with bass gear.

i wish i thought to snap a picture of my car last night.. or.. should i say where my car usually is.. i have a lowered 89 vw cabriolet ..i t was completely submerged.

its funny the back yard around my house is bare grass.. the wind wipped so hard around the house all night that it make a perfect area for the dog to still be able to go do his business..

the chicken coup was another story though.. had to dig those little guys out and dig out a good sized yard for them..

i have a really nice 36" ariens in the back of my truck but didnt have anyone to help me get it out.. too heavy for the wife to help. So we resorted to shoveling.. did get to plow the driveway though.. that saved a bunch of time.

Like this? It's one of my friends pics. This is East Haven, CT. The pile behind the first car is his car, completely buried in a drift.

yes quite similar.

still cant believe the amount of snow that dropped.

its funny working the parking lot all night you never see more than a 3-4 accumulation... it was pretty shocking when i got home to find the 4ft+ tall mound from the city trucks at the end of my driveway.. very glad at that point to be driving home in a plow truck and not the lowered vw lol

I know what you mean, but with almost daily snow you get up there by the Lakes, it would take a monumental amount to dump on you guys to make it news-worthy. When I live up at the East end of Lake Ontario (Fort Drum, NY) it seemed like I had to shovel almost every morning. Some of the biggest snow plows that I have ever seen in my life were in the Town of Champion. I was living in the little village of West Carthage back then. The only time that we couldn't go on the roads (I had a Subaru at the time, thankfully) was when a big ice storm hit in the early '90s. Everthing was encased in black ice. That closed all the roads in the county for about a week.

Watertown/Syracuse definitely gets more than we do in Western NY but if the wind blows right some of the Amish country down here can get 4-5 feet. The biggest storm this year was about 12" down here, the Niagara region got 14" with "Nemo". Has been light up here on Lake Erie.

4-5 feet is quite impressive! Still, 2+ feet here just north of Boston is a burden because we have a fairly small lot and because we have a dog, we are fenced in (much of the work is up and over). Couple that with a garage under, and it's quite a bit of work to move that much material out of the way without blasting it onto the neighbor's property with the snow thrower (I have one of those 10" electric deals - fine with powder although it takes some artful undermining to deal with 24+").
