Hey all -
My D-link Wireless Router finally fried -
After knowing the BS I went through to hook it up in the first place, I'm not buying another one (plus, installing it puts additional "trial software" on your computer that doesn't work either).
Cisco's Linksys reviews from users proves to be pretty lame as well.
I'm hearing good things about NetGear.
Any comments/recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Z

The "Linksys WRT610N Dual-N Router" is a really good one with high reviews where I've looked. Basically with routers, the higher the price, the longer they'll last and with better range and consistently.
In my opinion.

My friend owns a computer-gaming center and I used to help them out from time to time with hooking stuff up, and such and they've had to replace numerous different kinds of routers.

If the net goes down to the cable modem, you might have to reset it, but it usually just resets itself after the modem comes back online. Whatever you do, avoid belkin... they're pure crap.

I and my IT Network guy both feel that Linksys makes the best wireless routers. Their software is easy to use and I have no problems with it...and they have given me the fewest problems of any brand.
If you start reading reviews online, it seems like NO wireless router is immune from complaints about dropped connections. Problem is, you have no way to judge the knowledge and skill level of the reviewer, and many of them have no clue what they're doing.

Thanks again! Off to watch the news.
It figures..First time I go to Las Vegas, I experience an earthquake.
My daughter gets to go to New Zealand to student teach...and they get put on Tsunami watch.
Prayers welcomed.
