Looks like it's supposed to be more ergonomic. FWIW, I've always had good luck with LogiTech products.
Check out www.newegg.com Besides being a great online store their user review are usually pretty good. |

I myself use it for a lot of photo editing, drawing, and generally as a mouse (a regular mouse also comes with it). Most tablets (the good brand is Wacom) are pressure-sensitive, and this gives a much more natural interaction with the media, not to mention the huge amount of saved time. I personally love it. The pen is light and battery-less; it's some really cool magnetic resonance technology, you can rest your hand on the tablet and draw on your palm if you want.
I think the kind of interaction you are talking about is something in the line of Microsoft's OneNote. It was designed for tablet pc's but works well with any Wacom input device. You could easily do what you describe with it.

Ahh, I Have M$ OneNote, but not table pad/screen. I was thinking you were talking about a laptop tablet (write on screen) but i suppose those pads work just as good. |

The cursor still follows the pen when it's up to an inch over the tablet. You don't poke the tablet and randomly guess :P
